    Description

    This
    1959 Smith-Corona Galaxie typewriter
is in excellent working condition!  All the keys move freely and easily, with no sticking.  All the characters print straight and clean.  All features--including key-set tab, line spacing (single, double, triple), caps lock, margin control, ribbon color select, touch control, etc.--work perfectly. It's type is "elite" size, meaning 12 letters to an inch.  It has a brand new ribbon already installed, which should be ready for hundreds of pages of printed text.
There are a few chips and worn spots in the paint, but in general it looks great.  Please take a careful look at the pictures to see the typewriter's condition for yourself--what you see is what you'll get.
The typewriter comes with the original case, but the latch is broken and there is no key.  The case opens without a key and is fine for storage, but it's not really suitable for regular transportation.
The typewriter also comes with the original manual.
This typewriter was made in 1959, the year the Galaxie model was first introduced.  In later years Smith-Corona started cutting corners in an effort to maximize profits, but this typewriter is of the original top-quality build.  You can't find a better writing machine.
Many of the greatest works of literature ever produced were drafted on Smith-Corona typewriters.  Literary giants such as James Baldwin, Truman Capote, Alice Walker, Raymond Carver, Kurt Vonnegut, T.S. Elliot, e.e. cummings, Alice Walker, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, David Foster Wallace, and even Dr. Seuss, all used Smith-Corona typewriters.
Buy this machine, and start writing your masterpiece!
