1962 Sears Tower (Smith Corona) Electric 10 Typewriter, Custom Finish

Description

1962 Sears Tower Electric Portable typewriter made by Smith Corona.  It is fitted with 10 cpi Pica typeface.
Originally the typewriter was painted beige and had a plastic keyboard insert and spacebar. The paint has been removed and the aluminum is buffed and waxed. The keyboard insert is made from salvaged ceanothus hardwood. New EDPM drive belts have been added as well as a felt lining to the shell. All functions work great and the machine hums quietly and types  quickly with a consistent imprint. The carriage return, backspace and tab are mechanical and type keys, spacebar, and shift are motor assisted. I do not have the case for this machine, but it will be very well packed.
