Here is a real time-machine, a rare and pristine cursive Olympia SM 5 manual typewriter made in München, Western Germany. This Mercedes of typewriters is in beautiful condition and ivory in color. The serial number 2438143 dates it to 1962. This machine is ready to type, it has been cleaned, serviced and adjusted to factory specs. The feed rollers have been cleaned or replaced as necessary and any worn or damaged parts were repaired or replaced. The typewriter body has 100% original color from the factory and the machine has been thoroughly tested. A brand new black/red cotton ribbon installed is freshly installed. All this work guarantees you years of trouble-free operation. This typewriter nests in a hard grey and ivory Olympia factory case with polished chrome latch closure. The latch-key is missing, the case is in excellent condition with some normal chips and scuffs from protecting the typewriter for the last ~60 years.
In this case is the original Olympia cleaning kit including brushes, the Olympia branded yellow felt cloth, an Olympia branded erasing shield, and the original factory export tag! There is no structural damage to the case, the handle is strong and the clasp works and latches well. Remember that manual typewriters are not laser printers. They have a print characteristic all their own and use a fabric ribbon. Their print is never totally solid throughout.
