The bag is 18'' long and 3'' in width, hand constructed and filled with natural large river rock with an added herbal mixture. This bag is for advanced training and is the next step after use of the natural gravel bag. This is a traditional mixture / content for Iron Skills training.
The natural large river rock is boiled in water and triple rinsed to remove any foreign particles or possible contamination. The bag is filled the cleaned river rocks and an herbal mix. Continuous striking will cause the natural river rock to wear releasing small particles that pass through the canvas and onto the practitioner's striking surfaces (forearms, shins, thighs, shoulders, feet, etc.). These particles are made up of naturally occurring minerals and will gradually toughen and strengthen the skin and muscle of the striking surfaces. The  herbal powder mixture aids in strengthening, while protecting the skin against excessive dryness, callusing and cutting. The use of natural, uncoated river rock (not shiny) and the Jiang Huang herbal mixture is an important but often unknown part of Iron skills conditioning training. Each level of training has very specific requirements to ensure safe progression to reduce the potential of latent, unperceived injury. Reckless striking of harder and harder objects will have severe and painful results that will manifest in the later years. This careful methodology has been passed down for centuries. The secret is in the details and in patient, thorough training. Not everyone has this knowledge.
Train hard, don't rush progress, follow the proper methods and reap the rewards!
