The Airbus A321 is a member of the Airbus A320 family of short to medium range, narrow body, commercial passenger twin jet airliners. The A321 can carry between 185 to 236 passengers, and has a maximum range of 4,000 miles. A total of 2,043 A321 aircraft have been delivered to various airline operators around the world.
Lufthansa, founded in 1926, is the largest German airline headquartered in Cologne, Germany and is the second largest European airline. Lufthansa currently has 265 aircraft in their inventory with 20 Airbus A321-100's.
This Airbus A321-131 with registration number D-AIRR had its first flight on December 06, 1995 and was first delivered to Lufthansa on January 26, 1996. It provided passenger service for many years and is currently in storage. Lufthansa has been involved with a Crane protection program for over 30 years. This aircraft (D-AIRR Wismar), for the program 25th anniversary, had for six months, decals on its fuselage depicting stylized Cranes on European routes, making a symbolic appeal for species protection.
