Today for your viewing pleasure we have a vintage Underwood Golden Touch Leader portable typewriter, with case. This aqua blue beauty came to us in quite a state; the keys were all sticking. After some careful cleaning and oiling I'm happy to report that this is now in much better condition. I did experience the occasional stuck key after cleaning; mainly this was with capital letters and the key did return to the resting position when the shift key was released.
This machine currently does have a working ribbon, though this will need replaced eventually.
Though I can't imagine abandoning word processing software in favor of a manual typewriter, I do see the attraction of not needing electricity to write. The action on this typewriter is better than a lot of the other models we've had come through. This one requires less than average force to get a good, solid strike.
As a bonus, this unit comes with the original case, which is in surprisingly good condition considering the age of this machine. It does bear some minor cosmetic damage, but is solid and in good working order. Please see photos.
