The universal optical viewfinder is a nozzle for the Zorkiy camera and is designed to determine the field of the camera frame when shooting with lenses with a focal length of 2.8 cm; 3.5 cm; 5 cm; 8.5 cm vs 13.5 cm.
The universal optical viewfinder can also be used with other cameras with a 24 × 36 mm image format.
The universal optical viewfinder consists of a cast housing mounted on a T-shaped leg. This foot is used to mount the viewfinder in the terminal on the camera. The turret mounted on the body carries five lenses with different focal lengths having a field of view corresponding to the field of view of 2.8 cm removable interchangeable lenses; 3.5 cm; 5 cm; 8.5 cm and 13.5 cm for the "Zorki
" cameras.
The latch locks any of the five positions of the turret. On the case there is an index against which the desired stroke of the turret scale is set. The scale indicates the focal length of the camera lens and has strokes corresponding to different distances to the subject.
An eyepiece is mounted on the back of the case, in the field of view of which a crosshair is drawn for the convenience of aiming.
Thanks to the system of prisms placed in the case, the image of the object visible in the eyepiece is direct. Balls and a spring, mounted in the groove of the T-shaped legs, ensure reliable installation of a universal optical viewfinder in the terminal of the camera.
The universal optical viewfinder is installed with a T-shaped leg into the terminal of the “Zorki” camera as far as it will go, so that the eyepiece is turned to the eye of the person taking the picture. Turning the turret against the index sets the stroke ∞ (infinity) of the lens with the desired focal length. When shooting at close range, you should turn the turret from dash ∞ until the index coincides with the corresponding stroke on the scale.
After that, you can observe the frame field in the eyepiece.
